Ace And Midnight, Waiting 'So Long': Northport Pets Of The Week

Nov 26, 2023

NORTHPORT, NY — Ace and Midnight, bonded brothers around 7 months old, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, took the two from the rescue's habitats last week and brought them to her home to foster them so they could stretch and run around.

"They have been in the habitats for so long," Wild said. "Here is what I have learned about Ace and Midnight. They LOVE to play. They love to run through a tunnel. They love to look out the open window. They LOVE to eat. They LOVE to lick treats from your hand. They love each other. They use the litter box beautifully and are dying to be friends with my other cats. They LOVE when I come in to play with them."

The duo let Wild pet them after a few days, and they loved it, purring up a storm. When Wild leaves the room, they sit by the door waiting for her to come back.

"Although a little nervous, they want love," Wild said. "They will be amazing pets in a home with people that will be patient with them to warm up and will play with them, talk to them, and love them. Every time I thought, oh Ace is the more affectionate, all of a sudden Midnight would head butt me for pets, and then it would switch. They are both craving love. They are so sweet, not a hiss or a scratch, just all love. So why haven't they been adopted yet? Your guess is as good as mine. Sometimes it just happens to take longer than others."

The cats hold no resentment, however, Wild said. They are grateful for any attention they get and came to see small spaces as the norm.

"I can't wait to see them when they get a home – to run around in and never be put back into a cage again," Wild said.

They will be back in the rescue's Petco Commack habitats starting this week.

"We hope this will finally be their last stop before their happily ever after," Wild said. "Please consider visiting them and giving them a furever home. They are simply purrfect."

They are neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, and micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.

If you are interested in meeting Ace and Midnight, you may head to the Northport Cat Rescue website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the rescue's other wonderful kittens and cats. Or you can call NCRA at 631-606-2631 or email [email protected].
