Dakin Humane Society pets of the week: Cats ready to adopt at reduced fees

An all-feline lineup of cats are featured as the "pets of the week" by the Dakin Humane Society in Springfield, and these animals are all available for adoption with the perk of a reduction in adoption fees.

The Dakin Humane Society's spokesperson, Lee Chambers, told MassLive the group has been taking in "an exceptionally high number of cats" recently.

Chambers added that many of the cats have just arrived from "a Connecticut home where the person got overwhelmed."

Chambers said the cats are "quite young and in overall good health" as well as "lovely" and "friendly."

However due to the large number of them currently in the humane society's care, the group wants to find them good homes as quickly as possible and is therefore reducing fees to incentivize prospective owners.

The Dakin Humane Society expects even more cats to come in the next few weeks, according to Chambers, so opening up more space for the new arrivals while finding homes for the ones already in its care is key.
