Pets saved from house fire in Upper Nazareth Township
Two dogs and a cat were rescued from a house fire Monday afternoon in Upper Nazareth Township, according to the fire chief.
Another cat ran off and three residents are temporarily without their home as authorities investigate the cause, fire Chief Jeff Fassl told lehighvalleylive.com. The pets were the only ones home when the fire at 142 N. Liberty St. was called in around 2:45 p.m.
It started on the deck and spread into the house but was quickly controlled before it could get very far. County dispatchers reported the fire was out about 45 minutes after the first call. Still, Fassl said the result was "pretty severe" with smoke and water damage throughout the house.
Upper Nazareth's crews were already out at a brush fire that closed Route 33 near Wind Gap when the call came in, he said. Five other departments from surrounding municipalities assisted with the house fire.
